Ash Throated Flycatcher flying among Ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens) at Big Bend State Park.

Description

An ash throated flycatcher bird gracefully soars between tall, spindly branches of ocotillo which are adorned with clusters of orange buds. The contrast of the bird's flight against the stark sky creates a sense of movement and tranquility. The minimalistic composition highlights the sparse beauty of a desert landscape.

I took this photo at Big Bend State Park.

It was awarded First Place in the Bird Category in the Fourth Annual Print Competition of the East Texas Camera Club in 2024.
